The Club had the honour of hosting the final state Sabot regatta for 2018, with twelve Sabots having their last preparation regatta, prior to the 55th Sabot Nationals, to be hosted by the Sandringham Yacht Club, on Port Philip.
Saturday saw an extra race sailed, near perfect conditions in anticipation of Sundays weather change, completion was very close over the seven races with three different heat winners over the varied conditions of the two days.
RYCT sailors took the top placings with Daniel Maree sailing Loose Cannon to with five wins a second and a third, Second was Nick Whitton in the Fang, with Lara Recape third in Seas the Moment. First of the PDYC sailors was Elysha Jones in fourth with Ellen Hillcoat sixth and Magnus McIndoe tenth.
The Sate Sabot council held their last meeting prior to the Nationals, among other items discussed, was the election of a new Life Member with current national measurer and long-time PDYC member and Sabot parent, John Hillcoat elected the TSSA's newest life member. Congratulations John PDYC has also been a beneficiary of your tireless work for the Class, a well-deserved recognition.
The final duty for the weekend was the presentation and election of State Team Captain and vice by the sabot team members, the election result rounded out a great weekend for the Hillcoat family, with Ellen elected Captain of the State Sabot Team.
