AUSTRALIAN SAILING – ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR COURSE AT
PDYC SUNDAY 31 MARCH

This one day course will be run at PDYC on Sunday 31 March and I encourage anyone considering having an involvement in this area to attend.

These courses are only run a couple of times a year throughout the State and are rotated around the clubs, so it is an excellent opportunity to undertake the course locally

Course Overview
This course focuses on the skills that an Assistant Instructor will need to assist a qualified Australian Sailing Instructor in delivering dinghy training courses. This qualification is for those who wish to progress in the sport by helping others who are learning.

Course Prerequisites

  • Must be at least 12 years-old
  • Water confident
  • Comply with relevant State Maritime Licence requirements

Who should do this course?
This course is for anyone wishing to work / help out at an accredited Australian Sailing Discover Sailing Centre or those wishing to go on to become a Dinghy Instructor. It's a great introduction to instructing for teenagers and also others wanting to help out at their Centre, such as parents, volunteers, etc.

Course Outcome
The course aims to provide you with a good foundation in the structure of the Dinghy Program, including an awareness of the fundamental skills, effective communication skills and an introduction to risk management. Pending your success, you will gain the Dinghy Assistant Instructor qualification.
