With the break in Club racing, comes National Championships and the Christmas Ocean Races and as always Port Dalrymple Yacht Club members will be representing the Club and the State across four Nationals and two ocean races.

The NS14 Class see's six members heading to the Nations capital, for the 51st NS14 Nationals hosted by the Canberra Yacht Club, 2nd to 5th January, Vice Commodore Barrie McIndoe is leading the fleet north, in Walk on the Wild Side, with Max Edmunds. Ruby Edmunds and Magnus McIndoe. are in Fast Asleep, Uluka Bayne and Jazz Harris in Cicada VI.
The Laser Nationals are being hosted by Sandringham Yacht Club from 1st to 8th January, Ellen Hillcoat will be the sole PDYC rep, in her 4.7 Cheeky. Ellen will be backing up the Nationals, with the Australian Sailing Youth Nationals at the Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club from the 10th to 14th January.
In the Christmas Ocean races, Commodore Stephen McElwee, is taking Lawless south again, in the Launceston to Hobart, with crew Nick McElwee, Tim Ferguson, Paul Badcock, Damon Wecker and James McIndoe. Mick and Mel Jones are back for a second run at the L2H in Ambition Mick is joined by son Sam, Andrew Jones, Ross Edmunds,Shane Hanson, Scott Creadon and Derek Le Marchant. Jason Harriss and Chris Bayne are on board with Tim White's Sassy. Lawless and Ambition will also be joining the 32 boat fleet contesting the 2020 Australian Yachting Championships hosted by the Royals from 3rd to 5th January.
In the Sydney to Hobart, Sydney based member Callum Cecil, is heading south on CYCA Rear Commodore, Dr Sam Haynes TP52, in his newly updated Celestial.
That totals twenty one PDYC members, representing the 2018 Tasmanian Yacht Club of the Year over the Christmas period, close to ten percent of our membership!
