PME 3 Hummock Island Race Briefing delivered.
Formalities done, T’s crossed and I’s dotted. Whilst it is a small fleet there will be sheep stations at stake!
Whilst Andrew Jones skippering Advantedge will be out to break the race record of 1 day, 4 hours 32 minutes and 44 seconds he set in last years windswept race, both Scott Lovell’s Just Farr Love and Nick McElwee’s Honeypot will be out to avenge the weather gods who smashed their efforts last year.
Those same weather gods look to be smiling this year with a freshening South Easterly to take the fleet out of the river, strengthening as they track down to the Island. Fast conditions will test the leading navigators with a high probability of a pre dawn rounding to add to the mix.
As the fleet makes it way back to the finish line at Low Head, the breeze is expected to clock through the south during the day on Saturday promising competitors a fast ride on the return. Can Advantedge set a sub 24 hour time and get in for Dinner? Who will take home the overall win?
The fleet get underway off Inspection Head Wharf at 1800 hrs (6.00 pm) and will be joined by other local boats in the PME dash to Low Head.
