PDYC members Crown Series Wrap

Published Tue 18 Feb 2020

The Annual PDYC, members on tour, at Bellerive’s Crown Series, was again a successful trip south, both on and possibly more, off water (enough said), with six PDYC boats contesting the series, five trailables and Mel & Mick Jones Ambition, still in Hobart after the L2H.

Stand out performance was the trailable fleet, with PDYC boats covering first to fifth place, Piers and Sarah Findlay took the win in Vengeance, on a count back to Andrew Jones E5.9 ShrinkEDGE. Nick McElwee took third at the helm of Smooth Cha Cha, followed by Grant Seamer's Seventeen and Ross Edmunds Hot Dog, in fifth place.

in the extremely close, Performance Cruising Div. 2, Ambition, revelled in the heavy conditions on Saturday, that saw a number of retirements and a couple of ambulance calls to BYC (all not too serious). Ambition took one-line honours and two second places, with some seriously brilliant foredeck work, by Sam and Elysha Jones to be in second place overall. Unfortunatly sunday's softer breeze, allowed lighter boats into the race and courses didn’t allow a great over taking opportunities with Ambition ending up in sixth place.

Congratulations to BYC for a great regatta, off and on the water, huge volunteer commitment to support and run great racing over three keel and trailable courses and one dinghy course, with the support of the DSS RYCT and LSC.
