The 2022-23 Summer Season wound up with the Annual Dinner and Trophy night on Saturday, the night was a great celebration of the hugh season for the Club hosting two National Championships with great results from Club members across the season. Along with the all the dinghy and Division 1 and 2 winners the Clubs Major Club Trophy recipients for the year for the season were recognised and awarded.

The Major committee voted Club trophies for the season 2022-23 are:
Go For Broke Award - Barrie McIndoe.
Recognition of Barrie owning and supplying, plus arranging a large chunk of the entries NS14 Nationals fleet.
Ern Annear Encouragement Award - Mia Greatbatch & Amy Lee
Both girls started the season being press ganged into the reality that they were going to compete in the upcoming Sabot Week component of the Sabot National Championships.
Mia started the season in her own boat with a bright spark sail and after overcoming some initial difficulties finished every race of Sabot Week for 6th overall and 1st on Handicap.
Amy stepped into one of the Clubs newly acquired Club Sabots at the start of the season and quickly gained confidence and a can-do attitude. Showing great improvement to finish 10th over and 7th on Handicap at Sabot Week.
She Sails Award - Narissa McElwee
Narissa joined the Committee at the last AGM and quickly accepted the role of SheSails co-ordinator. She has consistently advocated for the opportunity for females to participate. Narissa initiated the extremely successful New Sailors Nights, resulting in many new sailors having an opportunity to race. This Interest resulted in one of the most successful Women on Water days yet. Narissa continues to compete on Honey Pot with Husband Nick doing both inshore and offshore races.
Junior Club Person - Liam Jones
6th Overall National Sabot Championships, 2022 and 2023 Tasmanian Sabot Champion, 2nd on Handicap (crew) National NS14 Championships. Liam has settled in as an instrumental part of our Youth Learn to Sail program as an assistant instructor. Liam is respected amongst his peers and enthusiastically shares his knowledge and experience with the younger sailors. Liam shown initiative in assisting with the preparation and pack up of Discover Sailing equipment and resources.
Club Person of the Year - David Shepherd
Club Treasurer and Secretary, Regular SB20 sailor as helm and crew
David has been the backbone of the Executive for the past couple of years, his diligence and attention to detail in his roles has placed the Club in a positive fiscal position. David has gone above and beyond in ensuring that any contractual documentation is a true and accurate representation of the Club, he has taken the lead on our many funding submissions in recent times.
Jack Turnbull trophy - Kevin Lloyd
Joint owner & skipper of Honcho, Kevin has sailed in about every possible race Honcho was eligible for this season. There were not too many of those races that Kevin wasn’t on the podium for and in the hunt overall. With a win in the SB20 Northern Regatta and the Sprint Series, capping that off by taking the Clubs Division 1 Pennant Kevin has definitely had a consistent series at the top end of the fleet.
Yachtsman of the Year - Andrew Jones
Line Honours Maria Island Race, second over the Line Melbourne to Hobart Race
Not only has Andrew continued a well-executed campaign with AdvantEdge, along with AdvantEdge he and Michelle are building a campaign with their Thompson 8 Cutting Edge and taking of PDYCs and other Clubs younger members along for the ride.
