Morning Star Finished, Well done Pete & Jo!

Published Mon 23 Apr 2018

After 5306.7 nautical miles the voyage ofMorning Star in the 2018 Osaka Cup has finished, with Port Dalrymple Yacht Club member Peter Brooks the Club’s first Transocean racer, completing the Melbourne Osaka Race, as Co Skipper with Morning Star owner Jo Breen, from the Tamar Yacht Club.

Those that have been watching the race tracker avidly over the last thirty eight days, will have seen the amazing effort that Jo and Pete have put in, keeping Morning Star moving at an impressive average speed of 5.4 knots. An average that a lot of the other entrants in the race would be very happy to see on their tracker average.

Results are still subject to the finish of the remaining fleet, spread out over 2500nm, but as they finish Morning Star are second on IRC and third on PHS and AMS. Epic result for the race’s smallest entrant, and a true indication of the extremely high quality sailing, from the duo, in the classic S&S 34 design.

Huge congratulations from all PDYC members and race followers to Jo and Pete, outstanding performance in an incredible race of a lifetime.

Well done to you both and to your family, friends and sponsors that supported Team Morning Star on your adventure.
