Memorable Opening to Season 2020-21

Published Sun 04 Oct 2020

We are back on the water, with Sunday's Official Opening of the 2020-21 Sailing Season, by Patron Peter Kearney, under clear sky's and a packed, but covid safe Clubrooms, at Port Dalrymple Yacht Club.

Opening Day, saw the presentation of two Life Time Achievement Awards, to long time members and Life Members of Port Dalrymple. With the Club's newest Rescue Boat christened the "Eric McCormack" and the Clubs start box, renamed the "Bob Silberberg - Control Tower", popular and fitting recognition, for these stalwarts of the Club.

After a very light, sail/motor past of the Club jetty, taking the salute from the Commodore, Patron and invited guests, racing got under way slowly, with the twenty Division 1 and 2 boats and six dinghies making their start to the season.

Big thank you to Riverview Landscapes for their race sponsorship of Opening Day, in the dinghies Liam Jones took the win in his Sabot Crude Oil, from Ellen Hillcoat in her Laser Cheeky with Briana McElwee and Holly James third in the NS14 Indecisive.

There were no Div 2 finishers, in Div 1 the win went to Ian White in his SB20 Meant to Bee, with Kevin Lloyd’s Next Question second, and Mick And Mel Jones Ambition third.
