McElwee's Tasmanian NS14 Champsions

Nick and Brianna McElwee have continued their stela year on the water, taking the Tasmanian NS14 State Championship, inUnder the Radar at Midway Point, over the traditional March State Championship weekend, making the perfect book match to the NS14 National Championship Trophy.

The States were extremely close, with the last race of the series deciding the title. Nick and Brianna were tied on points and had the same discards as Scott and Gus Wilkie in Serenity, Nick and Brianna’s last race win got them equal on points and gave them the win, for the 2018 title. Third place went to Darren Eggins and Allistair Lord, third,11.5points behind the leaders, that dominated the series. Sam and Lindy Bailey in Arctic, took fourth place on 21.5 points with the Barry and Magnus McIndoe taking seventh place, in Magic and Loss.

With the long weekend back in favour for the State Championships, the Lasers continued their training for the 2018-19 Nationals, sailing at Mersey Yacht Club for their States. In the Radials Sam King continued is great form in the class, taking a six bullet win, from Will Sargent and Max Gluskie. Port Dalrymple’s sole entrant for the States, was Josh Jones in Tough Dog, taking fifth in the eighteen boat fleet.

In the 4.7 Rigs Ethan Price from Wynyard took the series in his first Laser regatta with Finn Potter second and Matilda O'Donoghue third.
