Jetty Update November 28th

Published Tue 28 Nov 2017

The Jetty redevelopment piling is complete; we now have new steel piles for the entire jetty structure, along with new steel, poly sleeved piles for the Clubs pontoons and the new fuel berth and day berth pontoons in place.

All the old unused timber piles to the north of the jetty have been removed along with the two old piles that remained of the bowser section of the jetty and the original pontoon piles on the southern side of the jetty.

As you can see from the photos the pontoon piles look very clean and neat with no ongoing wear issues, due to the poly sleeves, the sleeves still need to be trimmed to height and have their white pile caps installed.

Fabrication of the rest of the jetty constructor kit is underway, the first of the new galvanised steel work is back at Multiskilled, ready to be delivered to the Club. Fabrication of the new aluminium gangways is underway, with the two 12m gangways close to completion and the shorter pontoon link gangways about to start.

The new grated FRP decking, for all the pontoons and entire jetty is in a container making its way through though the Pacific Ocean, due to arrive at the Club, prior to Christmas.

Next step will be to get our two Club pontoons back into position with temporary pile mounts, so we can get the jetty back in use for Christmas, this will be followed by the arrival of the new fuel berth and day berth pontoons in the new year, then the reconstruction of the jetty, working from the outer end back to shore.

Lots more to do, Pilepro have done a great job with the piling, working around the existing structure, now the rest is up to us.

Lots of working bees to come!
