Jetty Redevelopment update 13-10-17

Published Fri 13 Oct 2017

We are pleased to announce that Tasports have joined MAST, Tasmanian Community Fund, West Tamar Council and Tasmanian Gas Pipeline as supporters of the jetty redevelopment and fuel berth pontoon, we are very grateful for Tasports support of this Project.

The first of the components for the jetty redevelopment have arrived at the Club, with poly pipe sleeves for the new steel pontoon piles, delivered to the club on Thursday.

Multiskilled Tasmania is well underway with the fabrication of the new steel work for the jetty and the first of the aluminium, for the fabrication of the new pontoon and walkways, has arrived at Multiskilled.

Delivery of the new jetty piles is booking in for November 1st with preparations for piling driving scheduled to start on the same day.

That is the good news, as flagged from the start of this major project, there will be a major interruption to the use of the main jetty in the first part of the season.

To prepare for the piling works, all pontoons on the main jetty will be removed on the Monday 23rd October (making use of the afternoon high tide to crane out two of the Club pontoons), with the Jetty closed and becoming a construction site, with no access from Monday 29th October.

The courtesy dinghy will be relocated to the tender pontoon (please remember that at low tide there is limited water at this pontoon, when utilising the courtesy dinghy.

The intention is to utilise a rescue boat for ferry duty for crews to keelboats boats on race days, so please work with us on this and be patient, a period of inconvenience is going to be of long-term benefit for your Club.
