Jetty Redevelopment update November 6th
We are getting close to the driving of the first pile in the Jetty Re Development with the arrival of the donated gas pipe /piles from TGP arriving at the Club on the Wednesday 1st November, this was a full day project with the pipes started loading at 8:30 at the Westbury site and the last of them unloaded around 4:00.
The concrete coated piles are the replacement piles for the jetty, with the plain steel to be used for the pontoon with Poly pipe sleeves to be placed over these for a wearing face.
All the steelwork for the jetty is completed with the first of the new steel work at the galvanisers the final steel will go to the galvanisers on completion of the piling allowing fit to be confirmed prior to galvanising. Fabrication of the new aluminium gangways and the frame for the new fuel berth pontoon are now underway with Multiskilled.
The new deking for the jetty and pontoons has been ordered with it expected to leave the factory on China on the 14th of November.
We have all the required approval in place with the final crown lands sign off received on Thursday 2nd November.
Piling is due to commence the week starting the 13thNovember, we will confirm the date as soon as we know, piling is due to take a couple of weeks weather permitting.
Two of the Clubs existing pontoons are out of the water, with the original (middle) 14 year old pontoon strip down ready for a new frame and decking to be installed. The inner pontoon will have its gangway landing point adjusted to suit the revised pontoon layout and new pile locations with the plan to get this pontoon temporarily back in position when the piling is completed and the first of the new aluminium gangways is completed.
Reconstruction of the jetty will start on the outer end, allowing the installation of the access walkway to the fuel berth pontoon as early as possible.
So we are well under way please keep your eye on the Club web page for further updates and details of timing for works.
