It's Club Championship time, with the Harken Club Pennant for Divisions 1 and 2 and the Beams Brothers, Club Championship, for the dinghy fleets, with both series underway on Sunday after a soft start for the Pennant last Sunday. Huge thank you to Harken Australia and Beams Brothers Pty Ltd, for their fantastic ongoing support.
We look set for an exciting Harken Pennant, after a closely contested pennant last season. The Harken Pennant format has been compacted to the post christmas slot to keep the series tight, with 1 discard during the 5 race series. Both Divisions will start at 1300, with different courses sailed for each Division, to get all boats home around the same time.
Please check the handicap list and sail the correct course for your division.
The Beams Brothers Club Championship will see the Sabot, Sabre and NS14 sailors, super keen to get on the water in preparation for the Sabot States and come close class racing for the other fleets. The District Dinghies mixed fleet racing will continue, for NS14, B14, Sabre's, lasers, Pacer and Byte ready to contest another tight Club Championship.
Note to all sailors, remember your entry form, don't rush when filling it out, sail number, boat name, full crew name and your full name! no info on the entry, no info on the results.
Enjoy the racing, and thanks in advance to all the volunteers that will be staffing the rescue boats and the start box over both series.
Racing tips we can offer for a new Harken Pennant entrant, if you are starting out take the non-spinnaker option for your first season, a clean bottom is fast, don't be still on the pontoon at 10 minutes prior to the start. Give yourself time to get rigged and comfortable with your sail combination before the start. Keep track of the start time, don't end up at 'Z' mark, when the start sequence commences, get in hearing range of the hooter, to check your watch, understand the start signals, as detailed in the Club program.
