EnviroSlip Update

EnviroSlip Project - update to members 1.

Construction on the EnviroSlip is scheduled to commence on Thursday 1st February with the head contractor RMB Construction, along with their subcontractors, on site.

Works will start in the area of the slipway haul out and eastern hardstand, before progressing to the treatment tank area and the new concrete western hardstand.

The work areas will be fenced and be a no access area, during construction.

A brief description of the works:
Parts of the slip area surface will be re-graded in new concrete allowing the installation of wash down water capture pits with silt baskets, which will drain back to a central collection pump well in the traverse bay. The captured water is then pumped to the phase separation treatment tank, where solids will separate out. The water then passes through a oil water separator and through two more settling tanks. With water in the final tank available reuse for hull cleaning or discharge to sewer.

The slipway side of Kemps Parade will also be upgraded (from the trailer park entrance), with the support of West Tamar Council, with new kerbing, to divert stormwater around the Enviroslip area.

Along with the wastewater capture and treatment, power and water supplies will be upgraded to the slipway area, with additional power and water outlets and lighting installed. The Trailer Park will also get a capture pit at the top of the ramp and some re-sealing works, along with power and water feeds, for future Club upgrade works, along the eastern parking area.

All of the critical equipment has now been ordered with the first of the tanks etc now onsite.

PDYC are incredibly grateful to have funding support from all three tiers of government, namely the Australian Government, the Tasmanian Government and West Tamar Council, together with the Club’s contribution.

Further updates will be provided as the project progresses.
