Entries are open and the NOR is live for the 2025 Doyle Sails Inshore Championships, for the 35th Anniversary year, we have looked back to move the regatta forward and encourage more entrants and reinforce that the Inshore’s is a fun, competitive regatta for all boat sizes, speeds and designs.

The 2025 Inshore Championships will be proudly hosting the SB20 Northern Regatta, supported by Engine Roco and Parts in a separate Division with Sportsboat trailable Yachts, but we are excited to bring back some of the original Championships format with a focus on Keel Boats and traditional Trailable Yachts.

This year’s racing will be across three divisions, Division 1 being Fixed Keel Yachts over 9m (Arbitrary & IRC handicaps), Division 2 will be Fixed Keel Yachts under 9m & traditional Trailable Yachts (Arbitrary & CBH handicaps), with Division 3 the SB20 & Sportsboat Trailable Yachts (SB20, Arbitrary & CBH Handicaps).

Along with the change in Divisions, we have revised the courses sailed, all racing will be from committee boat starts mid river, to give exciting regatta starts and fair first windward beat, with course formats for Division 1 and 2 being a combination of Windward Leeward and River course racing on each day. The SB20s and Sports Trailable’s doing all Windward Leeward’s.

Off the water – it is Tropical Night! Bust out your loudest shirts, grass skirts, and tropical getups — the bar will be buzzing with live music, Pina Coladas, and the legendary PDYC Chocolate Wheel is back in action! It is the perfect way to wrap up a big day on the water. 

So, it is time to dust off that traditional Trailable and do some racing with like boats. For the big boats, get your crew together, “to hard to race 30 plus footers on Mid River start did you say”, well they got masthead rig forty footers around the same bay in 1992, so surely its possible in 2025!

For Regatta entries, this year we are utilising the Top Yacht entry data base for the 2025 Doyle Sails Inshore Championships, so get of the entry portal via the Inshore Champs menu on the PDYC web page, check if your boat is already in the Top Yacht data base (possibly under a previous owner) or register a new boat, few boxes to tick first time around, but super simple moving forward. Get on it, 2025 Doyle Sails Inshore Championships and Engine Roco and Parts SB20 Northern Regatta, twenty plus boats is the aim, we did it 1992, should be easy in 2025!
