Cracker Tasmanian Electrical Services Sprint

Published Sun 18 Dec 2022

Thanks to long time Club Sponsor Tasmanian Electrical Services for their ongoing support of the Sprint Series after a few hiccups with weather and a virus, we got in a cracker of a series this time with 12 boats contesting the series across 3 classes.

Racing got underway in a south easterly that faded in and out making race one a marathon sprint, but the forecast 180deg wind shift was backed with the race 2 course set for the sea breeze, which arrived on cue with a flurry and settled to a consistent 14-15 knots for the rest of the five-race series.

In the Sabots Liam Jones took the win in Holy Guacamole from Grady and Harry Frith. NS14s Came down to a battel of the McIndoe's after Nick McElwee suffered some jib track damage, part way through race 2. The result of the final race decided the contest after tying on points Barrie and stand in crew Vanessa Teahan took the win, in Walk on the Wild Side from Magnus and Brooke Teahan Fast Asleep with Nick and Holly James third in Super Sonic Cyril.

In the inaugural SB20 Sprint Kevin Lloyd in Honch came out on top from Bill Rostron in Persian Princess and Mike Dontschlk at the Helm of Delphinus.

Thanks to all the assistance from our great mark and rescue and the post-race BBQ form the catering crew.
