Blockbuter 2018 Results

The 2018 Tamar Marine Blockbuster has been run and won, with the weather playing along Saturday, with a solid north easterly providing close racing in all classes of the forty two boat fleet. Sunday saw the breeze testing the Alpha course, with the wider bay not filling with breeze, that saw the Alpha fleets only getting in one race and covered quite a few miles chasing the breeze. Where as the Sabot course, closer to the Club got in their three races in a shore breeze.

In the Sabot Development fleet, Oliver Whitton sailed Under Pressure to the win, with Pia Tucker second in Fast & Furious, with Liam Jones taking third in 2HT2TCH. In the Senior Sabots Daniel Maree took the win, in Loose Cannon with Ruby Edmunds second, in Not Today, with Elysha Jones taking third in Running on Empty.

On the Alpha Course, the lasers were lead home by William Sargent, in Great Success with George Scott second in Welcome to the Jungle, Nick Smart at the helm of Telstra Mike took third. The Sabre class returned to the Blockbuster with Matthew Price taking the win in Zap, Tristan Henderson sailed Bd Dabing to second, with Ela Klinger third in Flying Echidna.

The NS14 Class again provided the largest fleet of the regatta with twelve entrants, Nick McElwee Brianna McElwee continued the form that took them to a National title, sailing Under The Radar to a four bullet win. Scott Wilkie and Gus Wilkie sailed their new charge, Serenity to second place, with Midway Point club mates Darren Eggins and Allistair Lord, third in Pumpkin Eater.

Midway Points Steve Miller and Lauren Bird took home their first B14 Cup, in Phantom, taking the win by one point from Chris Wells and Dianne Maynard in Epic. Third were the young guns of the B14 class, Fynley Harding and Isaac Shipp who were giving the reigning national champion Rocket Ship, a run at the Blockbuster.
