Leadership & Vision
Port Dalrymple Yacht Club (PDYC) through its Enviroslip project has retrofitted its aging slipway as a best practice facility complying with the latest Tasmanian Environmental Protection Agency (EPA Guidelines for Boat Repair and Maintenance, thus ensuring its subsistence into the future.
The Club through the support of 6ty° were able to adapt its infrastructure to satisfy the EPA Guidelines, rather than demolish the current infrastructure the Enviroslip Committee were able to assess the existing installation and provide a workable solution to minimise disruption and provide cost savings to keep the project within the available funding.
Engagement:
The development of this facility has fallen within the strategic plan for the PDYC Committee and Members and reinforces the club’s commitment to the environment, complimenting the existing actions and activities of the club. The completed project has provided a medium to drive a cultural change within the members and the boating public. The clubs ongoing commitment to "Clean up Australia Day", providing remote access for the recovery of rubbish and marine waste from the shores of the Port Dalrymple shorelines, through to the expanded classification, segregation and appropriate disposal of recyclables, organics and contaminants delivers confidence to the informed users of the club’s services and facilities.
Delivery & Future:
The Enviroslip Project has ensured that zero emissions of heavy metals, oil products and boat repair by-products (Fibreglass, Paint dust, Micro-plastics etc) will be released into the ecosystem that is the Tamar River and surrounds
The Club is committed to be a leader in environmental sustainability, expanding its renewable resources, adopting energy reduced equipment and the use of environmentally sympathetic chemicals.
