72nd PDYC Regatta Wrap, Spectacular Days Racing!

A shifty light North Easterly, saw a delayed start for the 2024 Steve’s Liquor - Bonney Energy 72nd PDYC Regatta, with the twenty-one entrants, enjoying close racing, across the King and Princess fleets.

A diverse fourteen boat combined Sabot and District Dinghies fleet, Saw a super close yardstick battle for the Princess of the Tamar, with under two Minutes thirty from fourth to first. The win went to NS14, Walk On The Wild Side, Seeing a four back-to-back wins to Commodore Barry McIndoe and Terina Enniss, to continue as our reining Princesses of the Tamar.  Second by 1 minute 28 seconds, was Nick McElwee leading the growing Sabre fleet home, in Paddy Wack. Third by 8 seconds was Mia Greatbatch in her Sabot Whisper. 
 
The King of the Tamar was contested by a seven-boat fleet, with David Shepherd and the crew of the SB20 Honcho, taking the double of the Line Honours Cock of the Tamar and the King of the Tamar Trophies, good work up for the SB20 Nationals at PDYC in 5 Weeks. Second by sixty-five seconds was TYCs Bill Rostran and crew in another SB20 Persian Princess with third by thirty-Six seconds going to David O'Brien in his Holland 25 Valsheda. 

The PDYC Regatta was the second leg of the of the annual interclub battle for the Bart Hutton Trophy, this season sailed in the SB20 Class. Following on from the TYC Regatta on Saturday, which saw TYC and PDYC tied on Points. Sundays TYC SB20 placings, by Bill Rostran and Felix James, were enough for the Bart Hutton Trophy to head back to Tamar Yacht Clubs Trophy Cabinet for 2024.
