The Princess of the Tamar which sees any Off the Beach Dinghy compet against each over with the overall winner awarded on VYC Yardstick. This year we saw our Sabots, Sabres and an NS14 be joined by 2 Lasers from Deviot Sailing Club.

A fresh southerly funnelling out of Middle Arm slowly clocked South East providing a work out to sailors upwind with some exhilarating rides off the wind. A club can only have one Princess, and with the commodore’s wife jumping ship mid race ruining any chance of another title it was young Grady Frith in his Sabot “Fader” who hung in to lift the Tiara. Barrie & Terina in the NS “Walk on the Wildside” hung in for second with Tom in his Laser “Windward Bound” rounding out the top three.

The Cock of the Tamar, which is presented to the Fastest boat around the course on the day was a one boat affair with the afternoons fresh South Easterly holding in against an incoming tide and providing some lumpy and confused waves, Kevin Lloyds “Honcho” stormed home a clear leg out in front from Isaac Mearns “Pac-Man” & Barrie McIndoes Coronella third.

The King of the Tamar is decided on PHS results from the same race, Honcho’s huge lead was enough to give them the double whilst Coronella was close enough to steal second pushing Pac-Man out to third.

The PDYC regatta constitutes leg 1 of the Bart Hutton inter club team’s trophy, so with Honcho’s win, Coronella’s second and Robin Taskers Spindrift’s fourth PDYC holds a commanding lead going into the final round at the TYC Regatta on Saturday 1st of March from Leven and Tamar Yacht Clubs.

Many thanks to our visitors for coming and joining us to celebrate our Regatta and a big shout out to our Regatta Sponsors Steve’s Liquor and Bonney Energy.
