A light building NNW breeze filled in for crews in the 2023 Steve’s Liquor - Bonney Energy 71st PDYC Regatta, with a good fleet enjoying close racing, across all classes.
In the diverse combined Sabot and District Dinghies fleet, vying for the Princess of the Tamar, the win to NS14, Walk on the Wild Side, seeing a trifecta wins to Commodore Barry McIndoe and Terina Enniss, to continue as our reining Princesses of the Tamar. Second by 15 seconds were Rani and Lachlan Wells, in their Mirror Mad Cat. Great to see Rani back on the water at PD and amazing for Lachlan to experience his first Regatta at 4 years of age. Third a further 7 seconds back was Damon Frost in in his Sabre Shell Be Right.
The King of the Tamar was contested by a ten-boat fleet, with Scott Creadon going back-to-back Cock of the Tamar title's, in his Thompson 750 Mustard Cutter, with his line Honours win. The King of the Tamar was back to the future, with Tim White racking up his first (open to correction) King of the Tamar win, in the long-time family boat the Superstition 26 Resolution, Six seconds ahead of Steve Beams, in his Castle 650 White Fella's Magic from TYC's Mike Breen in his Cavalier 975 Scintilla.
The PDYC Regatta was the second leg of the of the interclub battle for the Bart Hutton Trophy, following on from the TYC Regatta on Saturday. Sundays PDYC member placings were enough for the Bart Hutton Trophy, to stay in the Trophy cabinet at PDYC for another year.
