25th BlockBuster this weekend!

This weekend will see the 25th running of the BlockBuster Weekend at the Port Dalrymple Yacht Club. With over 40 entries from around the State, this continues to be one of the biggest off the beach events in Tasmania.
Nine clubs will be represented with competitors coming from Wynyard YC, Burnie YC, Leven YC, Tamar YC, Port Dalrymple YC, Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania, Midway Point YC, Kingston Beach SC and Port Esperance SC – the most southerly sailing club in Australia!
The Blockbuster has continued to evolve and adapt over the years from the first event in 2001 featuring visitors in the 49er class including Olympic Gold Medallist Mark Turnbull. In following years the B14 class attracted strong contingents of entries from Victoria bringing their boats over just for the weekend. Various invited classes have utilised the BlockBuster for their State Titles which will be the case for the Sabots this year.
Invited classes for 2025 are B14, NS14, ILCA, Sabre, Sabot, Optimist & Pacer. Racing will be on both days with fleets on two separate courses and the proven format of up to four back to back races each day. The first start on Saturday is at 1.00pm and on Sunday at 11.00am.
