2022 Australia National Special Olympics

Port Dalrymple Yacht Club, congratulates Tourism Northern Tasmania and the Launceston City Council on their successful submission and the selection of Launceston, to host the Australia National Special Olympic Games in 2022.

PDYC is proud to selected as the host venue for the sailing component for the 2022 Australia National Special Olympics, along with other West Tamar Venues.

Sailed in Hansa 303 dinghies, with three divisions, sailing over three days, the Special Olympics are usually run in around March or April.

Launceston’s successful bid for the games, brings them full circle, as Launceston hosted the inaugural games back in 1986. Since then the games have grown to encompass 1,000 athletes, 800 volunteers, 300+ events over 11 sports.
