This course is designed to assist participants to a become a competent crew member on a keelboat using a combination of classroom theory and onwater practical. The PDYC Sailing Instructors (accredited with Australian Sailing) work with small numbers of students, both within the classroom and on the water. Our onwater training takes place on the Clubs very own J24 class training boat.
The registration fee for nonmembers allows participants to apply for Sailing Membership (for the remainder of the season) at no additional cost. PDYC is committed to supporting new sailors to gain onwater experience following course completion with a specific focus on Friday evening and other race events.

This course introduces participants to the basics of sailing on keelboats, including boat handling, safety and sailing theory.

Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a keelboat. Learn the basics, whilst staying relatively dry! .
What you will need?
PDYC will provide PFD's(life jackets) for participants to use, Participants will need soft sole shoes, a waterproof coat and a can do attitude.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Crewing completion certificate.
